Fight the Plastic Days of Action
10 a.m – 4 p.m on 5th and 6th October, 2018
This event took place in Bishop’s Castle, bringing students from the Community College, volunteers, shoppers and traders together to highlight the problems of Single-Use Plastics around the theme of ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’! The Good being the food packaging plastic where it is ESSENTIAL and FULLY RECYCLABLE, the Bad where it isn’t and the Ugly which damages the environment and can kill wildlife on the land and in the sea, where it will eventually end up after it degrades into tiny pieces and washes down the rivers.
It included displays, recycling games, a mini-beach hunt, quizzes, students in costume, petitions, interviews on Radio Shropshire, a local, organic fruit and veg supplier and much more, for adults and children. A key activity was the opportunity for shoppers to DUMP THE PLASTIC once they had shopped and so demonstrate their demand for less plastic packaging.
